Introducing… Cara (Continued)

In the first round of commissioning, Leeds Irish Health and Homes brought us Cara, which helped to connect older isolated people of Irish heritage. For this new project, they will build on that success and take what they learned into care homes.

Care home residents are at particular risk of loneliness and social isolation. Cara Continued will recruit and train volunteers to be matched with care home residents, and they have already made connections with seven local residences, including Beech Hall, Berkeley Court, Elmwood Care Home and more.

The project has wide scope to involve buddying up schemes between care homes as well as the use of technology to help connect people through “virtual” participation.
