Leeds Older peoples forum is proud to be supporting Catch the Bus Month 2025 run by Bus Users UK.

Buses boost the economy, reduce congestion and pollution, and having access to them can improve our health and wellbeing. Around 10 million journeys are made by bus every day yet Government figures show they account for just 2% of transport emissions compared to 60% from cars and taxis. To celebrate these sustainable and accessible services, Leeds Older Peoples Forum is planning to promote and share how bus use can change someone’s life.

The Travel connections programme, funded by the Motability foundation, aims to improve

access and experience for people with disabilities travelling in Leeds. This September, we will be sharing weekly real life stories of people in Leeds who have been supported by the Travel with Confidence project and have rebuilt their confidence in using buses and the incredible journeys they have been on.

Catch the Bus Month Campaign Lead, Lydia Horbury, from Bus Users UK said:

We’re thrilled to have Leeds Older Peoples Forum championing Catch the Bus Month 2025 and celebrating these vital services and the incredible people who run them and rely on them. Buses are the unsung heroes of transport – connecting our communities, reducing traffic and emissions, and keeping life moving. We want to get even more people on board because Catch the Bus Month isn’t just about riding the bus, it’s about driving change!
