Context
My name is Toyosi Ganiyu. I am a community matron at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, a PhD student at the University of Bradford, and a member of the Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Research Collaboration (YH PSRC). I invite you to take part in this workshop, where you can share your views and experiences of receiving acute hospital care at home.
To learn more about our research centre and the work we do, please visit: https://psrc-yh.nihr.ac.uk/.
What is Hospital-at-Home?
Also known as virtual wards, Hospital-at-Home provides acute hospital-level care to individuals in their usual place of residence who would otherwise require hospital admission.
Who are we looking to attend?
- Patients who have received Hospital-at-Home care.
- Relatives/carers of patients who received Hospital-at-Home care.
(Hospital-at-Home care means care received at home during a phase of acute illness).
How many people are we looking to take part in the workshop?
We are looking to recruit 5–6 people to participate in this workshop. The workshop will also be attended by 2-3 researchers from the Yorkshire & Humber Patient Safety Research (PSRC) Collaboration.
What will I be asked to do?
Share your experience with Hospital-at-Home care: What worked well, the challenges you faced, and what could have been improved. The discussion will be audio-recorded to assist the researcher in writing a report. The report will guide her in her future work, helping others. Once the report is finished, the recording will be deleted. Your name and any personal details will not be included in the report.
Time commitment
This is a single workshop spanning two hours.
When and where:
Date: Monday, November 10, between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm
Venue: The Community Room at Virgin Money Shop, 94-96 Briggate, LS1 6NP.
How will your input be used?
You will share non-confidential information that you are comfortable discussing. Findings will be written up as a report to help researchers understand what safety should look like when acute care is delivered at home.
Incentive
In appreciation for the time taken to participate in this workshop, we will pay participants £55 each for their time. We will also be able to reimburse reasonable travel expenses, and if applicable, assistance will be available to cover the costs of support if needed. Additionally, lunch will be available at the conclusion of the workshop.
