Leeds Older People’s Forum (LOPF) is proud to announce that we have been awarded Partner of the Year in the Adults & Health Directorate for Leeds City Council’s Awards for Excellence.

This award recognises LOPF as a driving force in championing the rights, voices and wellbeing of people in later life. It highlights our pivotal role in advancing the Age Friendly Leeds vision, ensuring older adults are heard, valued and supported, and helping to shape a city where everyone can age well.

The award acknowledges the depth and breadth of our work, from amplifying older people’s voices and strengthening representation on the Age Friendly Board, to influencing major developments such as the age and dementia-friendly design of Leeds Railway Station. It also recognises our leadership in tackling key issues, including food insecurity, ageism, pensioner poverty and financial wellbeing, alongside our delivery of impactful programmes such as the Age and Dementia Friendly Business Scheme and the Age Friendly Ambassador Programme, Wise Up to Ageism training, Creative Healthy Ageing, and the International Day of Older People celebration. Thank you to all our partners who work with us on these initiatives.

LOPF was praised not only for the impact of our work but also for the way we work, embodying our values of collaboration, compassion, authenticity, and positivity. We are proud to work alongside Leeds City Council, the Age Friendly Leeds Board and partners across the city to make Leeds the best city to grow old in.

Roger Harington, Chair of the Leeds Older People’s Forum, said: “We’re pleased to be recognised as Partner of the Year for the Leeds City Council’s Adults & Health Directorate Awards for Excellence, which reflects the dedication, expertise and collaborative effort our team strives to bring to every partnership. I want to say thank you to our partners and members for their continued support and trust, and to the team for their ongoing dedication to ensuring that Leeds is a great city to grow older in. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to deliver in the year ahead.”
