Navigating local authority services that have moved away from face-to-face support to digital-first options

Sheffield Hallam University are exploring how the shift from face-to-face council services, such as council tax discounts, waste disposal and adult social care, to digital formats affects older adults. The aim of the research is to understand the challenges older adults may face during this digital transition and, ultimately, to offer evidence-informed recommendations that can support local authorities in making their services more inclusive and accessible.

Who can take part?

Adults aged 65 years or older who:

  • have tried to access local council services
  • live in the Yorkshire and Humber region

You do not need to have any skills with technology to take part in this study.

What does participation involve?

Each participant will take part in an interview for 30-45 minutes, either in person or over the phone, depending on their preference.

Participants will be compensated with a £20 shopping voucher for their time.
