Context
Deciding Together Leeds is a new initiative bringing people from different backgrounds together to design and deliver a grantmaking programme for the city, hosted by the Leeds-based charity Together for Peace. Thanks to National Lottery players, Together for Peace has received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. The funding will build relationships between people from varied communities so they can decide how to design, award, and deliver a participatory grant-funding programme in Leeds. The project will distribute up to £300,000 to support community projects and good causes across Leeds.
This participatory grantmaking programme will bring together around 20 people from three groups:
- Older people
- Younger people
- People who have sought refuge in the UK
Together, you will decide how to use this funding to benefit communities across Leeds.
Who we’re looking for
Leeds Older People’s Forum are looking for seven or eight older people to help design and deliver this grant-making programme in Leeds.
You don’t need any previous grantmaking experience. We’re looking for people who:
- enjoy listening to others and working together
- understand the experiences and challenges within their communities
- like making connections and helping others
- want to give something back to Leeds
- are curious about how funding decisions are made
- are willing to learn alongside Together for Peace and the National Lottery as we explore this new approach.
What’s involved
You’ll be expected to attend five sessions between November 2026 and January 2027. For which you’ll receive:
- travel expenses (reimbursed upon production of a receipt)
- food and refreshments at every session
- an optional financial ‘thank you’ of up to £40 per session as either cash or vouchers
