The University of Leeds wants to explore the representation of ageing women on screen, in collaboration with the BBC and Learning on Screen, as part of a Leverhulme Trust-funded project. Specifically, it will examine how on-screen representations of women’s ageing shape personal meanings, feelings, and perceptions of ageing across different life stages for women as audience members.
The study is currently in the data collection stage, with focus groups for women aged 18–69. In these, we will explore how women experience and interpret representations of ageing in television and film.
