The Friendly Communities team from Age Friendly Leeds is delighted to invite you to Fest for Life, a vibrant celebration of creativity, community and opportunity, taking place on Thursday 1 October, from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm at Pudsey Civic Hall.
As part of the International Day of Older People, this free event shines a spotlight on the talents of people aged 50+, bringing together an exciting programme of performances, creative showcases and local organisations all under one roof.
A Festival of Talent and Inspiration
Hosted by Neil Currie from the Leeds Pride team and Trans Radio, the main stage will feature an eclectic mix of performances and entertainment. Visitors can enjoy everything from:
- Bollywood and traditional sword dances
- Trance DJ sets

- Thought-provoking spoken word
- Music, arts and creative showcases
The event will also include a fascinating talk by Professor Alice O’Grady from the University of Leeds on Club Culture and Older Women.
Discover Opportunities on Your Doorstep
This year’s International Day of Older People theme focuses on what’s available in local communities. Alongside the performances, visitors can explore a marketplace featuring local organisations, community groups and talented traders showcasing opportunities, services and activities available across Leeds and beyond.
Shop, Eat and Enjoy the Atmosphere
There will be plenty to browse and enjoy throughout the day, with stalls selling:
- Art and crafts
- Food and treats
- Homeware
- Fashion and jewellery
- Vinyl and vintage finds
A café on site will be serving a special festival-themed menu, including vegetarian and halal options, and there will even be an ice cream van for those looking for a sweet treat.
Visitors are encouraged to stay for lunch and bring some cash to support the fantastic local stallholders.
