About this project
The aim of Creative Healthy Ageing is to develop tested and effective community-based engagement approaches to inform a fresh city-wide approach to Public Health messaging using creative expression.
Grants were used to test out different creative approaches to delivering Public Health healthy ageing messages, based on a ‘Test, learn, develop’ ethos.
About the grant
LOPF is inviting you to apply for a grant of up to £5k for a 12 month project using creative aLOPF invited third sector organisations to apply for a grant for a 12 month project that used creative approaches to deliver one priority Public Health message from the following list:
- Mental Health and social isolation
- Physical activity, movement and building strength
- Food and drink
- Men’s Health and wellbeing
They could choose any creative expression approach to deliver the message to groups of older people aged 60+, and the funding could be used to work with experienced creative practitioners.
In addition, The Performance Ensemble was funded to work with successful applicants to support them in developing their creative approaches to public health messaging.
Learning
This toolkit is a guide to applying different methods of creative expression to support public health messaging. It is based on our findings from four workshops, each of which we applied a different public health message and creative approach.

The purpose of this short report is to present data collected so far, outline the approaches taken by our four partner organisations and summarise our learning to influence the design and development of the project’s final phase.
Funding for Creative Healthy Ageing
LOPF has been funded for our Creative Healthy Ageing grant programme by Leeds City Council Public Health.
