About this training
We believe in the importance of understanding dementia and inspiring everyone to make a difference for people affected by the condition in their communities. The Alzheimer’s Society’s ‘Dementia Friends’ initiative is designed to raise awareness and equip individuals with the knowledge needed to support those affected by dementia.
We offer Dementia Friends sessions for our Age and Dementia Friendly businesses. These sessions provide valuable insights and practical guidance on creating a more inclusive environment for people living with dementia.
What’s involved?
Sessions run for one hour, either in a face-to-face or virtual setting, and are hosted by a Dementia Friends Ambassador. Each session is split into three parts:
- Five key things that we think everyone should know about dementia
- Understanding how dementia could affect a person
- Dementia Friendly actions that can support people living with dementia
